Westward League Cross Country

Westward League Cross Country

Cross country is fun. I know this because Paul says so. The next race is in St Austell on Sunday November 15th. First race will be at 12noon. There are races for all ages including an Under 11 development race. It would be great to see lots of Bude RATS there. We actually have a reasonable chance of doing fairly well in the Over 40 Male category. But, as we missed the first race, the team (at least 4) needs to score in all the remaining fixtures. The longest race is for Senior Men and will be approx 5 miles. The longest womens race is for Senior Ladies and U17 ladies. There is a wide spread of abilities and ages - the last race was won by a 16y old girl in 19:07, with 92nd spot taken by an Over 60 woman in 34 min. Paul is our coordiantor and is happy to advise on anything from footwear to the need to take your own loo roll. I am also planning to do all the remaining races. See you there! Dave Lee

mmmmm, Just HOW much fun is this race I wonder, I know Paul (and Dave) wouldn't lie to us.
Anyway, I'm happy to give it a go after all you guys turn up very week to take training so it's the least I/we can do
and besides I love being in the same race as incredibly fit /fast 16 year olds!!
See you there,

Another successful RATS day out. This time to an ace course at Parke Estate (National Trust) Bovey Tracey. A flat field to start then big climb through the woods. Woodland paths and off-road tracks aplenty thereafter. 3 laps of this - spikes turned out to be optional and off-road shoes were a fine alternative. Another great performance from Andrew Medland in 6th, backed up by Dave Lee in 38th, Paul Clemens 44th and Brian Lakeland returning to racing in 64th. This is proving to be an excellent series of races and I reckon loads more RATS would enjoy it next season. Final race for this year is March 21 in Redruth. See you there!
