7 Rats turned out on a chilly afternoon to support the Morwenstow Community
Centre 10k. After a welcome speech by local dignitaries we set off along
the lanes to Gooseham and Marsland.
The start of the course was crossed several times by the kids'
fun run route. Those at the back of the field who were too
busy talking at the start to hear the instructions may have struggled to
remember whether to follow the black arrows on a yellow background, or the
yellow arrows on the black background.
The organisers continued the
mind games by marking the distances on the 10km run in miles.
For newcomers to the 10k this must have made the finish seem a very
long way away.
Ali - 1st female
The route followed typical North Cornish tradition with not a flat
bit in sight. The finishing straight was a steady climb into a stiff wind
so any thoughts of a sprint finish were replaced with just hoping to make the
finish.
First Rat home was Mark Ward in 44.36 (3rd overall)
Sean Jack 47:09
Ali Migliorini-Stubbs 49:38 (1st Female)
Alex Ward achieved a personal best with a time of 49.40
