RAT'S 1ST JUNIOR TRIATHLON: Sat 6th June 2009
On Saturday June 6th starting at 11.30 am we are holding our first Junior Triathlon. This event involves swimming from 1 to 3 lengths of Summerleaze sea pool, running along the sand to Crooklets beach and back along the canal to the Crescent car park, followed by cycling the cycle path finishing back in the Crescent car park. The event is for children from age 8 to 14 years and participants can do the whole course as individuals or compete in relay teams where 3 people do one leg each of the swim/run/cycle. It will be quite a challenge for the children and there are several vantage points along the route to watch their progress. Entry forms available from Bude Sports or Budehaven School.
Welcome to the Bude RAT'S Website:
We’re a Running and Triathlon club established in November 2008, based in ‘sunny’ Bude. Our main objective is to encourage improvement at all levels of ability, within a fun and friendly environment

We have twice weekly organised run sessions, starting from Crooklets car park at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Tuesday evenings are devoted to social runs of varying length, with structured coaching on Thursdays by qualified and experienced club members who, between them, provide support for beginners through to those competing in major events.
If that’s not enough…. How about getting wet and muddy too? The Mud Rats ( a few crazy members) usually go out on a Sunday morning to scamper across Bodmin moor or through Stow woods. If you’ve not tried this sort of running before and you can run 10k comfortably, then perhaps this could be your next challenge? It comes highly recommended!
Our initial focus has been on developing the running side, however, we already have some experienced Triathletes on board who are further developing the Tri side of our program. A specific Junior section is also planned for the near future. So watch this space!
We hope you find the above information useful. We’re a friendly bunch and hope you’ll come and join us soon.
