Entries are now open for the Bude Lifeboat Run and Junior Run, which are on Wednesday evening 10th June 2026.

Bude RATs (Run and Tri), invite you to the 17th edition of this event. The club has strong links with Bude Lifeboat, with several members either being or have been on the Lifeboat Crew or have family members involved. All surplus monies raised will go to the RNLI to help them save lives at sea and on inland waterways. After last years event we were able to present a cheque for £8032.09!

The RNLI was originally founded in 1824. Bude Lifeboat station first opened in 1837 and operated through to until it's closure in 1923. A new Inshore Lifeboat was established in May 1966 making this year it's 60th anniversary. It is also the 25th anniversary of the RNLI Lifeguards first patrolling UK beaches in 2001.

The evening has a 6 mile race around Bude’s cycleway, canal towpath and off road footpaths for those aged 15 and above.

Plus 2 x Junior 1 mile races for those aged 15 and under, one at 6pm and another at 6.30pm, around a single lap course using the cycleway and canal towpath.

The schedule is:

Junior 1 mile race for School Years 3 & Under starting at 6.00pm

Junior 1 mile race for School Years 4 & Above starting at 6.30pm

Senior 6 mile race starting at 7.15pm

Race HQ is Bude Rugby Club, Bencoolen Meadow, Bude, EX23 8QG. Registration opens at 4pm. Chip timing will be in operation for all the races. Parking is available at The Crescent Car Park, Bude EX23 8LE just a short 3 minute walk from Race HQ. Parking fees may apply. Overspill car parks at Wharf and Neetside.

The Senior race is limited to 500 places. Online registration will close at 18.00 on Sunday 7th June 2026, or when the race is at capacity. This event has been a sell out for the last 3 years, so we advise people to register well in advance to avoid missing out!
The Bude Lifeboat Run is Race 11 of 12 in the Cornwall Road Running and Racing Group’s Multi-Terrain Race Series 2025-2026
Junior Races - Schools Trophy to be awarded to the school with the highest proportion of entries as a percentage of total pupils.
MP3 Players
As this race is part of the Cornwall Multi Terrain series it is required to implement certain series race rules. Following a decision made by the Cornwall Road Running Group all MP3 players and personal audio devices are banned whilst running in this race for reasons of health & safety, both yours and other competitors. When you wear such a device you are unable to hear other competitors, cars, bicycles or marshal’s instructions. Marshals will be placed around the route who will be noting any individuals wearing personal audio devices. If you are found to be wearing such a device you will be disqualified from the race.

All finishers receive a memento. Prizes to individual, age category and team category winners.

Showers, Bar, BBQ, RNLI souvenirs, Car parking. First Aid cover is provided by RNLI Lifeguards.
​
The money raised from this event will help fund the RNLI’s aim to end preventable loss of life at sea and on our inland waterways. Through education, the RNLI can teach those who use our waters how to do so safely and with their lifeboats, they can continue to respond to those in need.
